I really like this photo.  I used a Canon camera and a 50mm Rokinon lens, but lit it entirely with cell phone flashlights.  One sat under the bottle.  I think it’s a really cool, very effective photo.

The bourbon is Wild Turkey’s Rare Breed, and it’s a little mean like wild turkeys can get when they’re mad.  It’s 116.8 proof, although you wouldn’t get that on the nose.  The nose presents with notes of caramel, apple, cinnamon and oak, but on the palette it changes, reducing the cinnamon, but amplifying the caramel and eliminating the apple.  In the finish there’s a citrus undertone, the cinnamon returns and brings a very slight touch of vanilla back with it.

On ice, the heat is greatly diminished, but the flavors hold up.  The caramel, the cinnamon and the oak are strong, and vanilla plays more of a role on the palette as it cools.

It’s a really tasty bourbon under all that heat, so you might try to small splash of water if you’re trying to get its complexity without changing the temperature.
