This is one I’ve had on the shelf for a little while that I was looking forward to trying, and it did not disappoint.  I know MGP gets an unfair amount of sass from bourbon snobs, but this rye is simply solid.

On the nose I caught oak, cinnamon, cherry, and a light leather.  On the palette I sensed baked bread, oak, a tiny sense of the rye, lots of nice spice, a little licorice, and believe it or not, a hint of creme soda.

The finish was long and pleasant.  The oak and creme soda had the longest legs, but bits of leather and cherry danced their way back in as the finish subsided.

On an ice sphere, the palette was decidedly sweeter and almost refreshing to drink as a rye, and I would never have expected that.

I also used the rye to make not one, but two different Whiskey Sour concoctions, both of which were very tasty in their own right.  In my view there’s no wrong way to drink Rossville Union rye, so grab a bottle and invite some friends over so you can experiment for yourself!

Enjoy!   🥃
